The Miss Black US Ambassador and Miss Black Teen US Ambassador Scholarship Pageant LLC exists to give a once in a life time opportunity for young African American women to serve as an ambassador of change and to encourage, empower and enlighten, communities states and nations.

These young women are rising voices in the community that seek to make a difference, by providing educational forums and events that focus on health disparities, poverty, violence and major issues plaguing the African American community. They are role models not only to young African American women, but to women around the world. They partner with key political figures and national initiatives to bring support to their efforts and platforms. These young women are more than a pretty face and the program is more than a competition. It’s a program that gives 365 days of support and resources to communities in need. The program is a platform for today’s savvy, smart and aware, young women of color to express their viewpoints, talents and accomplishments to the national public, while offering scholarships opportunities to further education.

The MBUS|AM Experience 

As a potential contestant and potential winner of the Miss Black US Ambassador Scholarship Pageant, we the Miss Black US Ambassador national board of directors ask that you read the following guidelines. If for any reason you will not be able to abide by any of the following rules and regulations, we ask that you reconsider submitting an application.


1. Miss Black Teen US Ambassador/Miss Black US Ambassador Contestants must meet the eligibility requirements that are stated in the application that are set forth by the national and state organization.

2. As a local or state contestant you are to serve a full year term as your selected title.

3. As a local or state contestant you are to promote the national platforms throughout your entire reign. Promotion includes and is not limited to events, PSA(s), and social/new media marketing.

4. As a local or state contestant you agree to make appearances, meetings, practices, fundraising activities, etc. that the national and state board has set forth. If more than 3 meetings, appearances or activities are unexcused you will be fined. More than 6 unexcused meetings, appearances; activities will result in all materials, royalties, etc. associated with your title to be relinquished.

5. As a local and state contestant you will uphold your title with respect, honor, grace, integrity, and dignity. You will not involve your self in any activities, which would bring dishonor to the title and/or the pageant committee, pageant, or fellow contestants. If asked to remove/edit media included on your social media presence in conflict with the MBUS|AM brand, you will do so.

6. As a local or state contestant you agree that you have never posed or participated in any form of pornography or used your body to advertise in any negative or immoral way. If this is found to be false, you as a contestant will be relinquished of all of your royalties/titles at once.

7. As a local or state contestant you agree to a criminal background and reference check.

8. As a local and state contestant, you are never to consume alcoholic beverages, smoke, and/or use any form of tobacco while on official business or making an appearance. No profanity should ever be used while on official business.

9. As a local and state contestant you agree not to endorse any alcoholic beverage or tobacco company. You also agree not to partake in any illegal drugs.

10. All information that is given to contestants regarding staff, official business, etc. is never to be released under any circumstance. A Confidentiality Agreement will be signed before any title is given.

11. As a local or state contestant you agree that if you willingly relinquish or are asked to relinquish your title for any reason that you are responsible for any financial obligations that are associated with your title. No refunds will be given for entry fees, ads, or other fees that may be required of a titleholder during their reign with the organization.

12. As a contestant I agree to sign and complete a contestant contract and return to the national board of directors within 14 days.

13. As a local or state contestant you agree that you meet the following eligibility requirements:

a. You are between the ages of 13 and 19 [Teen] or 19 and 28 [Miss] at the time of the national competition in July 2016
b. You have a current GPA or graduated with a GPA of 2.5
c. You are a natural born female
d. You are United States citizen.
e. You are African American, Afro-Caribbean, or from African descent
f.  You are not pregnant and do not have any children
g. You meet residency requirements for competing in a certain town or state.
h. You meet character criteria as set forth by the Miss Black US Ambassador Program
I. You are in reasonably good health to meet the job requirements.
j. You are able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities as set forth by the local, state or national program in which you compete

14. MBUSAM Team members, officers, directors and agents of Miss Black US Ambassador Scholarship Pageant, LLC and/or any of their respective licensees, assigns, parents, affiliated and subsidiary companies and the immediate family (spouse, mother, father, sister, brother, daughter, son, regardless of where they live) or members of their same households (whether related or not) of such team members, officers, directors and agents are not eligible to be contestants in the MISS BLACK US AMBASSADOR PAGEANT or participate in this application process.

The Miss Black US Ambassador Scholarship Pageant is an annual event held in summer of each year. The following competition categories which you will be evaluated on are as followed:

Community Service Presentation and Private Interview (Panel Style) (40%)

This is a ten minute interview with the judges. The first 5 minutes of your interview will consist of a presentation of your community involvement/platform to the panel of judges. Following your presentation you will be asked questions regarding national issues facing communities especially the African American community, also questions regarding your platform, community programs, and general pageant questions.

*Visual aids/support  (i.e. PowerPoint, signs, photos, video, etc.) will be allowed during the community service presentation.

Fitness Wear (25%)

Physical Fitness is a huge part of this system. Size does not matter, but being healthy does. You will be judged on stage presentation, overall physical appearance, body condition, and sportswear selection. Swim suits are not allowed in this competition.

Evening Gown (20%)

Evening gown must be floor length and not be extremely revealing. Evening gown is judged on style, grace, poise and overall appearance.

On stage Q&A (15%)

On stage question will combine two questions, the first will be regarding a current event or general question and the second regarding platform. Q&A is judged on articulation, clearly answering question, composure and the ability to think quickly on your feet. All scores are tabulated by auditors and notarized. 

All scores are final. Scores can be reviewed after pageant with the board of directors. In the event of a tie the interview will determine winner.

2017 Recruitment - Please note, you will not be contacted until after the 2016 National Pageant has concluded in July 2016. 

Only one at-large contestant will be selected to represent each state at the National Pageant. If you are applying for the following states: Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia you must apply using the State Pageant application.
